Cold Weather Starting 101

It almost seems crazy? Instructions on how use your vehicle in cold weather. Believe it or not your morning routine may be damaging your vehicle - at the least it could be inefficient.

Run outside, start your vehicle, run back inside. Then, let it warm up while you're nice and toasty enjoying your hot morning beverage. Sound Familiar? It's also common to adjust a vehicles heat to high with the vents open waiting for the air to turn hot.

How should it be done? Let your vehicle idle briefly then drive conservatively as it warms up. If your vehicle is turbocharged avoid any hard acceleration.

Keep your heating system turned off until your engine temperature gauge rises. Turning your heat on moves coolant away from your engine. Your engine will take longer to warm up causing your heat to take longer to blow hot.
