1972 “VOLVO FROM HELL” 142 RACE CAR
This flying red brick is one of the former SCCA “Volvo’s from Hell”142 ITB race cars successfully campaigned throughout the Northeast by the Christ family from Western Pa. It was acquired several years ago by Swedish Motors (home of the fastest Volvo 122 Amazon Race Car in North America) and it has been professionally rebuilt and refurbished by Swedish Motors. This race car has all the right stuff developed by Bob Griffith (BHP Developments) that made these cars champions in the ITB series in their day. -Currently the engine has been professionally rebuilt with 2 hours on the track.
-It is NOT a stock blueprinted B20E ITB motor - The block is the preferred reinforced “marine version”1974 B20 -New Forged pistons, competition rods and balanced crankshaft performed by Ober Performance. -It also has the famous BHP trap door baffeled oil pan, -High performance BHP Racing camshaft, modified oil pump, extensively ported and polished cylinder head with double valve springs. -MSD electronic ignition system and a modified K-Jetronic fuel injection system with cockpit adjustable fuel pressure. -Weisach exhaust pyrometers -New Tilton racing clutch mounted to an Aluminum flywheel -Custom headers and exhaust system. -C & R Indy racing aluminum radiator. -Modified/ducted brake system w/aeroquip lines and adjustable bias -All BHP suspension upgrades with adjustable front and rear swaybars. -Carerra shocks -15” X 6” lightened alloy wheels -New Schroth FIA belts good till 2016 -Lots of spares including incl. extra wheels This car is race ready, freshened up with a brand new race engine. This is not a “barn find” you will not be disappointed with this car, its ready to go!
